Business-aligned learning

With economic instability caused by Covid-19 set to continue into 2021 and beyond, it is imperative that organisations equip their employees with the skills to flex, innovate and remain resilient. The learning and development profession has a vital role to play in workforce upskilling and reskilling, but to succeed L&D teams must be more attuned to business needs and better demonstrate their value to senior leaders.

To better support our readership with this challenge, TrainingZone’s overarching theme for 2021, which will feed into our monthly content hubs, is business-aligned learning.

Our monthly themes are as follows:

  • January: Refreshing your learning strategy
    The events of 2020 have thrown traditional strategy and planning out of the window, as L&D professionals were forced to adapt to a more fluid approach in response to the crisis. This hub will offer expert insights and guidance on reshaping learning strategy for the future – whatever that may look like.

  • February: Learning analytics
    With L&D trailing far behind other industries in the analytics journey, practitioners must start putting learning analytics high on their agenda to help transform the sector into one that can prove the effectiveness and value of learning solutions. This collation of articles from experts in the learning analytics space will help L&D teams get started.

  • March: Diversity and inclusion in L&D
    L&D teams have the potential to play a far more impactful role in workplace diversity and inclusion. To help learning leaders develop and implement a meaningful D&I strategy, this hub will explore topics such as inclusive onboarding, the potential dangers of mandatory D&I training and how flexible learning can bolster inclusion.

  • April: Reskilling in an unstable world
    For organisations to adapt and grow in today’s unpredictable landscape, their workforce must have the tools, capabilities and mindset to drive the business through adversity. This is where a robust reskilling strategy comes in. In this hub, we will bring together real world insights and practical takeaways on creating agile talent pathways, boosting internal mobility and reskilling workforces to support business needs.

    We now know how vital it is for employees to have the drive and motivation to continuously learn new skills aligned to business needs. But growing a learning culture within an organisation takes hard work and patience. This content hub offers expert guidance and insights for the learning professionals who are reshaping learning culture in adverse times.

  • June: Virtual learning reimagined
    The Covid-19 pandemic quickly shifted all learning into an online setting, but now the dust has somewhat settled L&D leaders need to assess and refresh their quick-fix digital offering to ensure it is fit for purpose. This collation of articles will provide some fresh ideas and inspiration to help learning professionals redesign their virtual learning into an offering that meets the needs of both individuals and the business.

  • July: Flexible learning

    To better support L&D practitioners with creating agile workforces both now and in a post-pandemic world, this hub offers expert insights and guidance on the key ingredients to a successful flexible learning approach.

  • August: Leadership skills and development
    What skills, mindsets and behaviours are critical for good leadership today? And how do these requirements impact the way we develop those in senior positions? This collation of articles will examine the changing face of leadership development.

  • September: Business-aligned learning
    With mounting pressure on L&D to upskill entire workforces, learning professionals need to bring themselves closer to the business to help it reach its goals. In this hub we will provide useful guidance and strategies for creating an L&D offering with extensive organisational value.

  • October: Coaching
    Coaching has played a vital role in helping leaders and employees alike navigate increasingly complex and unpredictable environments. This collation of tips, strategies and expert insights will help L&D professionals accelerate and innovate their coaching offering.

  • November: Reskilling and elevating L&D leaders
    In what has been an exceptionally tough period for L&D, it is more important than ever for learning leaders to assess their skills gaps and build up their capabilities to ensure they can demonstrate their worth to the business. This content hub will provide tips, strategies and insights on how leaders within the profession can better elevate themselves and the industry as a whole.

  • December: 2022 trends
    What trends are around the corner? And what lessons can we learn from 2021? We will do a round up of reflections from 2021, and a look ahead to 2022 trends.
